Bandar Seri Begawan – Azure Technologies and the
Department of Technical Education yesterday signed a contract agreement
worth $2.4 million, marking a new milestone in e-Education development in
the country.
The agreement was inked for the supply, reengineering, analysis,
design, delivery, installation, integration, testing, deployment; training,
commissioning and maintenance of software and hardware for the
implementation of an integrated Webbased
technical and vocational education student information system for the
Department of Technical Education at the Ministry of Education.
Witnessing the signing ceremony was Deputy Permanent Secretary at
the Ministry of Education, Hajah Norjum Haji Yusop.
Signing on behalf of the Ministry of Education were the Director
of ICT, Lim Jock Cheng, and Acting Director of Technical Education, Noorhaizamdin bin Hj Mosbi. Azure Technologies was represented by its
Director Hj Matussin Hj Ahmad and Ang Han Cheong. In his welcoming address, Noorhaizamdin
said the primary objective of the agreement is to establish a system that
will enable the Department of Technical Education to strive for ICT
integration and alignment by providing web-based front-ends interface,
encouraging electronic transactions, facilitating collaboration with
relevant agencies and activating feedback mechanisms.
He added that the project is in line with the Ministry of
Education's e-Education goals, which are to provide reliable and efficient
ICT resources to achieve excellence in the teaching and learning processes
as well as the management and administration of training institutions.
He added, "It is our hope that through this project the
Department of Technical Education will deploy ICT as a strategic tool that will
provide a greater opportunity for the department and its training
institutions to enhance their capacity to be more competitive and relevant
in today's knowledge-based economy, thus effectively realising
its vision and mission".
