Government Officers attend IT seminar

Bandar Seri BegawanOver 50 government officers in the information and communication technology (ICT) field attended an information technology (IT) seminar, jointly organised by ITIS Wescot Technology Sdn Bhd, Blue Coat Systems and Falcon Stor Software, at the Mutiara Ballroom, Sheraton Utama Hotel in the capital.

 

 

On hand to conduct the seminar were speakers from Singapore, Lim Punk Kok of Blue Coat Systems and Simon Ng of Falcon Stor Software.

The seminar aimed to provide participants with knowledge to enable them to progress towards e-government goals, with emphasis on global IT security and storage.

 

Among those present at the seminar were representatives from IBB, IDBB, Prime Minister's Office, Immigration Department, Religious Department, Law Department, Royal Brunei Airlines, Ministry of Development and Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

 

Topics covered during the seminar included visibility and control of Web communications to protect against risks from spy ware, Web viruses, inappropriate Web surfing, instant messaging, video streaming and peer-to-peer file sharing while improving Web performance.

 

The seminar also introduced participants to various applications by Falcon Stor on maximising the efficiency, protection and availability of valuable stored information.

 

Other topics also in discussion were storage services for enterprise applications to ensure non-stop data availability and recoverability, simplified storage management and maximum performance.
