Bandar Seri
Begawan – TechnoNet Sdn Bhd, Oracle Corporation
and Ingram Micro will be hosting a one-day seminar on Brunei's e-Government
initiatives with Oracle 3Es on June 17, at Sheraton Hotel.
Present as the guest of honour at
the event will be the Minister of Communications Pehin
Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg
Abu Bakar.
The momentum of Brunei's e-Government
initiatives is increasing with the commitment and support from the private
sector. TechnoNet and Oracle Corporation, playing
a supporting role, will help fuel the e-Government initiatives.
Of the four key areas in e-Business for the government, Brunei is making strides
in the areas of government-to-citizen and government-to-government
interaction with additional investment potential for government-to-business
and government-to-employee initiatives as well.
During the one-day seminar, Oracle's government, education and
health solutions experts will highlight ways in which e-Government adoption
can improve citizen services, increase visibility and accountability into
public sectors' finances, boost human resources management capabilities and
enhance public services for citizens.
The seminar will also cover Oracle support services for the
government from a local standpoint. Oracle University had also
committed to deliver educational content to increase Oracle expertise
within the context of Brunei together with the
country's support.
The theme supports the government initiative to evolve from a
database driven ICT service to knowledge driven, which covers e-Government,
e-Education and e-Health concepts and driving the 3Es to go beyond the
database.
"E-Government is moving from being a concept to a reality
and there is still considerable potential for private citizens, businesses
and public departments to further benefit from self-service opportunities
as well as transparency benefits
That e-Government can
deliver. The event for the public sector will highlight the levels of development
so far and the ways in which both the public and private sectors can access
information and services.
In an effort to
update its customers and partners on the latest technologies available, TechnoNet had organised a
talk and dialogue by John Zachman, the guru of
enterprise architecture from the US earlier this year, and also
by representatives from Hummingbird Communications from Canada the previous year.
Both Oracle and TechnoNet hope to host more seminars and events in the
future.
Oracle has provided
e-Business solutions and technology to a number of organisations
in the Sultanate which include the Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of
Finance, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Development, Ministry of
Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, TelBru, Brunei Shell and Royal Brunei
Airlines.
