Top level officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs participated in a "Transformation Leadership Roundtable" held at Jerudong Park Polo Club yesterday. The Ministry jointly hosted the one-day session with Sapura (B) Sdn Bhd, a premier local technology consulting firm. Facilitating the roundtable was Professor Vasu Subrahmanyam, Principal Consultant, Methods and Systems, Sapura (B) Sdn Bhd.

The Roundtable was conceptualised in light of the dramatic changes, which would take place with the advancement of the government's initiative to step-up to electronic work processes and delivery of services.

"The Government has established a management organisation at both the national and sector levels for directing its IT policy. The next challenge was to align the organisation to the ministerial and departmental levels," explained Darren On, Managing Director of Sapura (B) Sdn Bhd.

"In support of this, a leadership programme - to instil awareness, facilitate alignment and trigger action - would be needed."

The main objective was to enable participants (known as Key Role Players), to articulate the strategic intent, goals and benefits of e-government, assume with understanding, leadership roles at different levels of the organisation and champion the cause of the e-government initiative.

The Ministry's two Permanent Secretaries, Dato Paduka Hj Abd Rahman bin Haji Mohiddin and Dato Paduka Hj Md Yusof bin Hj Md Hassan were also present.
