Mosque Goes High-Tech In Cyberspace

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Serusop held the mosque's website launching along with a Dikir closing ceremony on Saturday night.

 

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications, Dato Awang Haji Abdullah talked about the Information Technology Revolution (ITR).

 

He said that the world faced a revolution known as the Information Technology Revolution, which has changed the way of life. He also observed the changes in communication and that ITR acts as the economic development's base.

 

He supported this by noting the ways big industry have utilised Information Technology to achieve optimum advantage.

 

He added that Information Technology was a necessity for financial institutions, the sectors of health, education, entertainment, transportation and trade to increase competitiveness.

 

Dato Haji Abdullah also said that Brunei Information Technology (BIT) Council was set up two and a half years ago to handle the knowledge based economy issues focusing on the aspects of e-government, e-commerce and e-society.

 

The Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque website displays information on the mosque committee's organisations, structure details and activities throughout the year.
