Bandar Seri Begawan - Communications Minister, Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria said that there are huge opportunities and prospects in the Info-Communication Technology (ICT) sector even for a small country like Brunei.

"In order to adopt and implement the technology, Brunei must be prepared to meet the challenges ahead and act swiftly," the Minister said.

Pehin Dato Awang Haji Zakaria made the remarks at the opening of the e-Asean Roadshow and Technology Forum yesterday.

According to the minister, the Brunei Information Technology Council is vigorously pursuing and implementing the national information technology master plan which concentrates on e-Government and e-Commerce projects. The projects are directed to plans aligned with the e-Asean initiative.

Besides attracting capitalists for potential funding of the e-Asean Pilot Project, it is also intended to create better awareness on the project's purpose and progress.

The Roadshow also demonstrates the benefits of selected pilot projects.
