Signing ceremony on technology

Bandar Seri Begawan A signing ceremony was held between Brunei Darussalam Computer Society (PKBD) and the Singapore Computer Society last Friday. In conjunction with the signing, there was a presentation by BIT council on Brunei National IT Development that took place at the premises Ministry of Communications, yesterday.

 

The first speaker was Haji Mahmud bin Haji Md Daud, the Director of Information Technology and State Store Department cum Secretary of Brunei Darussalam Information Technology Council. He talked about the national IT plan for Brunei. The second speaker was Mr. Paul Phillips, Chairman of APICTA, Queensland. His talk was entitled "Asia Pacific Information Technology Awards". 

 

The third speaker was Mr. Salahuddin, the Director of PNM Techno Venture with his talk entitled "Indonesia Strategic Alliance".

Speaking to the Bulletin was Hajah Hairati bte Haji Mohd, the Secretary General of PKBD. She explained that as the result of the meeting they would adopt the APICTA logo and website. It was also decided that in early September 2002 Malaysia will host the same event. In 2003, the meeting will be held at Gold Coast, Australia and hopefully Brunei Darussalam will host this similar event in 2005.

 

Presently there are 10 members of APICTA. They are Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Hongkong, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia and Indonesia.
