The annual ICT School Based Committee end of year function was held at the Centrepoint Hotel on November 9. The function was officiated by the Assistant Director of Schools, Yang Mulia Cikgu Hj. Bujang Bin Hj Masu'ut.

Also present were Principal and Deputy Principal of SMPDSM, the Chairman and Workshop Coordinator, Mr Chong Jon Fong, Workshop Facilitators Cikgu Hj Ali Sofian Hj Thani, as well as Heads of Departments and participants from schools throughout Brunei Darussalam. Twenty-two teachers received certificates of attendance from the Assistant Director of Schools. The multimedia workshop was conducted in three sessions (18 October, 25 October and 8 November 2001) at SM Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja.

In his address to the group, Hj Bujang praised members for their contribution towards establishing a sound ICT foundation to strengthen all subjects of the curriculum. He emphasised that there will be a need for dedicated teachers to bind together to build programs that enhance the learning through technology.

Mr Chong said that 14 recommendations based on the educational visit to Singapore had now been forwarded to the MOE for consideration towards successful implementation of ICT across the curriculum for Brunei schools. Mr Chong's concluding remarks were to promise that there would be a large number of in-service training courses organised for teachers throughout the country in 2002 by the ICT Secondary School Based Committee.
