Bandar Seri Begawan – e-Government is not just about changing the physical set up  but is also a transformation of the way we do our work, said the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Haji Hazair.

He spoke at a conference on new information technologies, virtual information, the dawn of the era and an exhibition of new IT products and services.

Dato Haji Hazair said work processes would have to be re-engineered and re-adopted to suit the new environment.

Application procedures, approval procedures, inter-office communication, intra-office communication and all back office functions will be involved in the re-engineering process, he said.

The major challenge would be the transformation of the employees themselves, he said.

Dato Haji Hazair also officially opened the exhibition of new IT products and services at University Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in Rimba, Gadong yesterday.

There are over 40,000 civil servants in Brunei civil services or just under half the working population of Brunei.
