Crown Prince Launches BIT Website

Bandar Seri Begawan His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah yesterday officially launched the Brunei Darussalam National Information Technology (BIT) website at the Ministry of Communications in Berakas.  

The website will highlight information about the council and its activities.  

It will also act as key means of disseminating  IT related information, activities and services in the country.  

The official website will channel the vision, goals and co-IT strategies in line with the nation’s IT strategic plan.  

 

The website is accessible via http://www.bit.gov.bn.

 

The launching of the BIT’s website marks another important milestone in the council’s key activities since its formation last year.

 

His Royal Highness also toured a mini-exhibition put up by local and foreign private sectors on the development of latest technology.  

 

The Minister of Communications Pehin Dato Awang Haji 

Zakaria, BIT Council Chairman, greeted His Royal Highness on arrival.

 

The minister said the Electronic Transaction Order 2001 (ETO) encourages the use of electronic media for dealing with government administration and business.

 

The BIT Council was formed by the command of His Majesty to ensure all necessary steps are taken to enhance IT national league competitiveness.

 

The BIT Council implements a strategic action plan encouraging use of information technology (IT) among ministries, departments and government agencies. The  e-Government Programme Executive Committee” is chaired by the Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office.

 

The plan will support the public service foundation of Brunei’s goal in the 21st century.

 

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Surah Al-Fatihah led by Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.  

The Doa Selamat was read by Pehin Dato Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin.
